Getaway Day coming to the Allianz Riviera on May 15th, 2019

Founded in 2014, Getaway Day is a day of sports events, free of charge, for the benefit of children from social medical institutions (University Hospital, clinics, medical educational institutes, patient groups etc.) and their families. While Premiers de Cordée spends the entire year working inside the health care centres, this event is an opportunity to provide a moment with family or friends, far away from the concerns of sickness. Since it was founded, Getaway Day has been held at the Stade de France, where children can come and practise about twenty disciplines – thanks to support from the sports movement - tour behind the scenes of this symbolic venue and meet athletes and celebrities.

To celebrate the 20th anniversary of Premiers de Cordée, we will be holding not 1, not 2, but 4 Getaway Days across all of France, taking place this year in 4 meetings at Le Mans, Nice, Paris and Bordeaux.

The second event will set up camp at the Allianz Riviera on Wednesday May 15th. On that exceptional occasion, children from social medical institutions (University Hospital, clinics, medical educational institutes, home care and education services (SESSAD), consumer groups (assistance to young diabetic patients) and the ENVOL charity) and their families can explore over fifteen sports and entertaining activities, tour behind the scenes of the stadium and meet some champions. Football, tennis, volleyball, hockey, tandem, curling and more will be on offer. Every activity will be supervised by experienced caseworkers and volunteers from the group, with active support from the municipality of Nice.

A renowned sponsor and a few surprises

Thanks to the support from the OGC Nice and its Endowment Fund, Christophe Jallet, the exceptional Getaway Day sponsor in Nice will be on hand, together with his teammates, to meet the more than 600 children who are expected to come and play and to chat and share his experience with them.

There will also be a spotlight on dancing thanks to the presence of Silvia Notargiacomo (from the French version of the television dance contest “Strictly Come Dancing”).

The event also receives active support from a host of institutional partners: the municipality of Nice, the Allianz Riviera, the OGC Nice Endowment Fund, the VINCI Foundation and the National Sports Museum.

Hours: 10 am to 5 pm
