2019 European Heritage Days

Each year, the National Sports Museum and Allianz Riviera open their doors to the public free of charge during the European Heritage Days, and 2019 was no exception. On the agenda: special tours, activities and entertainment.

The Yellow Jersey and free diving in the spotlight

In addition to the museum’s permanent collection, two temporary exhibitions will be available during these European Heritage Days, dedicated to the theme of “Arts and Entertainment”. A museum highlight throughout the past summer, the “100 years of the Yellow Jersey” exhibition is drawing to a close. Don’t miss one of your last chances to see the fabulous stories that make this piece of Tour de France apparel an international legend. In the entrance hall, you can enjoy an exhibit all about free diving and featuring 50 objects as well as many hard-to-find videos and archives.

For the first time since this museum opened in Nice, guests will be able to enjoy live entertainment: a play will be performed by the local theatre troupe, “PANTAIL”. They will immerse us in the legendary text of Albert Londres: “Les Forçats de la Route”. Both funny and moving, this play pays tribute to Tour de France idols and the suffering they endured during the 1924 Tour de France. Highly recommended for spectators of all ages.

“Les Forçats de la Route” – Pantail theatre troupe | Sunday 22nd September at 11 am. Free of charge, reservations recommended (contact@museedusport.fr).

Backstage tours of the Allianz Riviera and OGC Nice, sports activities and workshops throughout the day

Due to the OGC Nice – Dijon match on Saturday 21st September at 8 pm, stadium tours will only be given on Sunday. Thanks to the support of the club and the stadium teams, guests will be able to discover, or rediscover, the backstage areas of the Allianz Riviera and OGC Nice ready for a match: the players’ jerseys will be set up in the locker rooms and pre-match activities will be available in front of the museum. Get ready for plenty of surprises as well…

Finally, your visit can include a wide range of activities, back this year by popular demand. From baby-gym workshops to sports initiations, from discovering the museum’s reserve to challenging your knowledge with exhibit quizzes, there will be something for everyone and for all ages in and around the Allianz Riviera.
